Our traditional Sunday school class is a structured, weekly gathering of believers focused on systematic study of Scripture, fellowship, and doctrine to instill spiritual maturity. The class functions as a "church organized" to train adults in righteousness, enabling them to handle the word of truth accurately (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Timothy 2:15).
Rather than a topical sermon, the lesson often follows a curriculum to cover the whole counsel of God, including books of the Bible, theology, or specific life topics.
The class serves as a gathering of a portion of a local church, which allows for more discussion and questions.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
