We have two adult Sunday School classes. The classes are intentional equipping of God-fearing believers for service to build up the body of Christ.
Rooted in Ephesians 4:11-16, this ministry aims to move adults from spiritual infancy to maturity—characterized by doctrinal stability and love—so that they are no longer "tossed to and fro" but actively using their gifts.
Core Components of Biblical Adult Ministry:
- Discipleship
- Nurturing a deeper, mature faith and fostering spiritual growth (Colossians 2:6-7).
- Equipping for Service
- Training adults to identify their spiritual gifts and use them to serve the church and community (1 Peter 4:10).
- "One Another" Care
- Building community, bearing burdens, and fostering accountability among believers.
- Teaching/Wisdom
- Focusing on the application of Scripture to the complexities of adult life (e.g., career, marriage, parenting).
- Mission
- Engaging in the Great Commission, both within the church and in the world (Matthew 28:19-20).
- In essence, adult ministry is helping adults grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ so they can fulfill their calling as "living sacrifices" in their daily lives (Romans 12:1-2)
Ephesians 4:11-16 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
Colossians 2:6-7 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it[fn] with thanksgiving.
1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
